St. Norbert College’s Homecoming took place during the week of October 13-18, 2014.
During the week of Homecoming there were many activities for students to get involved in, as well as events for SNC alumni to attend.
On Friday, Oct. 10, St. Norbert College hosted the second annual fallFest in the Campus Center. fallFest is a carnival-like festival put on for SNC students to kick off the start of Homecoming week and featured live music, food, socializing, pumpkin painting and games.
fallFest had a great turn out this year according to Brigette Hartges ’16, one of the students who helped to coordinate fallFest with Sandy Murphy, a member of Campus Ministry.
“Over 737 students came and had a good time and the event turned out extremely well,” said Hartges. “The band was entertaining, many people enjoyed the photo booth, pumpkin painting and games and of course, everyone got some free food.”
fallFest was a great success for this year due to a lot of planning, coordination and volunteers.
“None of it would have been possible without our volunteers- Norbertine Volunteers and Associates, SNC Parish, Cru, Campus Ministry, Spanish Club, Oxfam America, Habitat for Humanity, Knights for Life, Circle K, ALIVE and Optimist Club- who helped run the booths and games” said Hartges.
“We also had a fantastic committee, consisting of Kristin Sorenson, Lydia Dorn, Meaghan Dressel and Breanna Gosh, who did an awesome job of promoting the event,” said Hartges about all of the help that went into planning fallFest.
Kick-off for Greek Like and social group competitions took place on Monday, Oct. 13, with Scream Your Theme and Tug-O-War held in Schuldes Sports Center.
On Tuesday, Oct. 14, men’s volleyball and women’s volleyball on Wednesday, Oct. 15, both took place in the Campus Center gym.

On Saturday, Oct. 18, the Homecoming Parade took place, starting on Reid Street and finishing on Third Street. After the parade was an all-alumni reunion tailgate was held at the Arndt-Bush Center Pavilion at Schneider Stadium.
Following the parade was the Homecoming football game, which started at 1 p.m. at Schneider Stadium. The Green Knights defeated Ripon College with a score of 13-10.
After the football game was Airbands, the last homecoming event of the week, it was held in Schuldes Sports Center. The Theta Phi Alpha sorority and Phi Delta Theta fraternity were the winners of Airbands.
After a week’s worth of judging by SNC Faculty members, the overall winners of the Homecoming competitions were Theta Phi Alpha sorority and Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
Let’s hope next year’s Homecoming can continue to be a big success here at St. Norber
