Student Spotlight: Joshua Leach ’19

INTERVIEW CONDUCTED BY ANASTASIA MONTAVON, ENTERTAINMENT EDITOR

Name: Joshua Leach

Grade: First-year

Major/Minor: Political Science and Communications/Media Studies Major, Music minor

Why did you choose SNC?

There were a lot of good opportunities here that I felt I would be able to take advantage of.

What instruments do you play?

(Bass) Trombone, Euphonium and Tuba

What is your favorite band or musician? Why?

That’s a tough question to answer. Right now I’m really into Lindsey Stirling. Her level of musicianship and the way she combines classical and electronic is masterful.

If you could perform any song, what would it be?

“Fnugg,” by Oystein Baadsvik. It’s this fantastic tuba piece he wrote that involves multiphonics, singing while playing. Look it up on YouTube.

What do you like to do when you’re not performing or practicing?

I’m a pretty big gamer. I also love to write, mostly short stories. Other than that, it’s hanging out with friends

What is your favorite book?

This is another question that is incredibly difficult to answer. I’m a big fan of “Faith of the Fallen” by Terry Goodkind.

Do you have any post college plans? If so, what are they?
Ideally I’ll be working for a three-letter agency in the public relations department.
