On April 3, 2016 St. Norbert College Wishmakers on Campus held their second annual Rhythm & Wishes event. This event raised money for Ruby, a little girl with heart defects who wishes to meet her favorite pop star. The event cost $10 for every person to get in, and there was also a raffle and silent auction to raise money for Ruby. The night was filled with music by current students and alumni, and included many different styles of music, from current pop music, music from Frozen, and even original songs. There was something for everyone. With pizza and an open bar, this event had it all!

Wishmakers on Campus raised over $11,000 from the event. This is enough to send Ruby to Los Angeles to meet her favorite pop star and will include the plane, hotel, special events throughout the week, money for food, and even money for souvenirs for Ruby and her family. Make-A-Wish® goes above and beyond to make each wish experience unique to the child and to provide an incredibly special experience for the Wish Family.

Make-A-Wish®  was founded in 1980 by a 7-year old boy named Christopher Greicius who had leukemia and wished to be a police officer. His wish was the inspiration for  Make-A-Wish® Foundation which is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona where Christopher was from. Today, there are 61 chapters throughout the United States and there are chapters in 45 countries. Make-A-Wish® strives to bring hope, strength, and joy to children with life-threatening diseases. Children between the ages of 3-18 can wish to meet, go, or be anything they would like– within reason!

At Make-A-Wish® Wisconsin wishes are up by 21% and they are on track to grant 365 wishes this year, or one wish per day! Make-A-Wish® is always looking for volunteers, so please consider spending a little bit of your summer to help kids who really need it and by making a difference in your community.
