On Saturday, both the St. Norbert Men’s and Women’s Cross Country team competed at the Midwest Conference Championship in Beloit. Running in the gloomy weather, the SNC women shined and won their first Midwest Conference title since 2010. The men fought hard and finished sixth on the day.
On the road to first place, the women finished with nine of the top 19 runners and were once again lead by Senior Erin Artz who finished second with a time of 22:05. Freshman Taylor Domro quickly followed her, earning a fourth place time of 22:52. After that, Green Knights kept parading in with Brittany Kozlowski finishing 10th, Tori Nielsen 13th, Haley Joosten 14th, and Abby Janto 15th. At the end of the day, St. Norbert tallied a total of 43 points, edging second place Cornell College who had 55 points.
For the men, the team finished in 6th place overall with 144 points. Coming in 12th place, Sophomore Riley Boyce had a time of 26:46, which lead the team. After the race, Sophomore Ben Behling received the sport’s Elite 20 Award. This award is given to the athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average in their respected championship event.
Next up for both teams is the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional in Winneconne.
