Every person has a major and minor combination that is the best for them. Until we finally find the right one, our majors might change three or four times by the time we reach the end of our sophomore year. To make sure each of us graduates in four years, the Office of Career and Professional Development (CAPD) can be very helpful.
The Office of Career and Professional Development is in room 215 at the Todd Wehr Hall. The office is directed by Mary Ellen Olson with assistant director Shelia Kronberg. Along with the directors, career counselor Molly Muenster and counseling intern Lindsey Wyngaard are present to help each one of us. Their services can help you find a major, a career path, an internship and graduate schools that will supplement your studies. They can also give guidance about how your personality can work in your career.
Hire A Knight is an online service that provides connections to St. Norbert alumni for you, other students and future employers. The account that is provided to you can be personalized to show accomplishments and previous employment experience, showcase strengths and provide links to other information. This site also links you to events involving the Office of Career and Professional Development, such as the Canines and Caffeine event that will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 13.
Appointments to meet with counselors can be made through Hire a Knight. The office hours of the Career and Professional Development department are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with an appointment. It is recommended to make an appointment, though on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday there are walk-in hours at certain times.
In your four years as a student here at St. Norbert, it is recommended that everyone go to the Office of Career and Professional Development at least once. The counselors can help you with any question regarding your future as St. Norbert alumni.
