As the celebration of the mission and heritage of St. Norbert came to an end during the week of Oct. 8 through 13, President Brian Bruess was, in his words to the college community, “honored and humbled” to announce that St. Norbert College has received a remarkable and generous gift from the Donald J. and Patricia A. Schneider Family.
The gift honors Don Schneider’s legacy of both serving the community and advancing Catholic education. Schneider was the president, CEO and chairman of Schneider National, a transportation and logistics services provider based in Green Bay. He was also a St. Norbert College student, alumnus, trustee and adjunct professor. Before he passed away in 2012, Schneider maintained an active presence in both the local community and in his area of work. President Bruess described him as “a person who was deeply committed to the Catholic faith and values.”
The endowment gift of $30 million, given by the Donald J. and Patricia A. Schneider Family, is the largest single gift to St. Norbert College in its 119-year history. Their gift will help ensure that the St. Norbert College mission endures for generations to come.
For decades, both Don and Pat Schneider have demonstrated notable generosity to St. Norbert College. Their financial support enabled St. Norbert College to establish the Donald J. Schneider School of Business and Economics, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program in the 2016-2017 academic year and the Donald J. Schneider athletic stadium in 2010. In addition to supporting the college’s mission, the Schneider family has invested in the Green Bay community, seeking to provide longstanding and profound benefits and numerous opportunities for the organizations and the people who live, learn and work in it.
In response to the donation, President Bruess stated, “I am deeply grateful for the Schneider family’s involvement in, and passion for, our St. Norbert College mission and our commitment to offering a rigorous and vibrant student experience. The Donald J. and Patricia A. Schneider Family’s dedication to our community is truly inspiring.”
