INTERVIEW CONDUCTED BY BENJAMIN K. PAPLHAM | ENTERTAINMENT EDITOR

Major/Minor: Biology Major/ Music Minor

Why did you choose SNC? I chose SNC because of its incredible sense of community. The small campus size allows for amazing opportunities which aren’t found at larger universities.

What was your involvement with “Legally Blonde”?  I had two roles in the production. I was part of the technical crew, in which I helped build the set and props for the show. My second role was as part of the pit band; I played the flute during the shows themselves.

What is your favorite part about working behind the scenes? My favorite part of working behind the scenes is learning how to create the illusion of setting. Using just lumber, paint and power tools, it is possible to bring the audience to an entirely different time and place. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to learn so much about the inner workings and magic of a theatre production.

How did you become interested in musical theatre?  I became interested in musical theatre in elementary school when I first saw “The Lion King” at the Appleton Performing Arts Center. I was astounded by the amount of work that must go into each production, including the technical crew, costumes, orchestra and the cast themselves. I knew then that I would relish the opportunity to help create something so incredible.

What do you like doing when you’re not working on performances? When I’m not working on performances, I love to read, spend time with friends and pet as many dogs as possible.

What are your plans for after college?  After college, I hope to attend medical school. One day I hope to work in family medicine or gynecology.

What superpower would you choose?  If I could choose one superpower, I would choose the ability to heal people with the touch of a finger.
